BDO Malta introduces hybrid and flexible working policies

The new policies solidify BDO Malta’s reputation as an employer of choice by empowering team members with greater workplace flexibility.

Hybrid work week

The first policy introduces a hybrid working week to the BDO Malta workplace, with employees working three days in the organisation’s offices in Msida and the remaining two days from a remote location of their choice. This new policy officialises the hybrid working culture already in place at BDO, which proved successful when introduced at the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

BDO's hybrid working policy offers the team the advantages of both working from home or remotely as required, while also being part of a vibrant environment in the BDO Malta office, where they can share ideas and develop with the rest of the team,” explains Enrico Federici, BDO Malta Brand and Marketing Manager. “Following the uncertainty of the pandemic, this hybrid policy sets in stone the way forward for how – and where – our people may work, as best suits their schedule.”

Flexible working hours

BDO Malta team members can also take advantage of flexible working times through another policy launched in tandem with that for hybrid working. Year-round, employees can start their working day anytime between 7am and 9am, according to their own preferences and any commitments outside of work.

“At BDO Malta, we believe in building close personal relationships with our clients so that we can provide expert, bespoke and exceptional service. To enable this, we also believe in empowering our team to rise to this challenge. The launch of these new policies confirms our commitment to our people by offering them more flexibility in their working lives. In this, we have listened carefully to our employees, and strive to help them to grow and develop their own careers and keep a healthy work-life balance. Now, every employee at BDO Malta can easily accommodate other commitments such as the daily school run or fitness time into their working week, while still providing the highest quality of service to our clients.”

Summer hours & half-day Fridays

The new policies complement the seasonal flexibility already enjoyed by the BDO Malta team, with reduced working hours throughout the summer. From July 1 to September 30, employees can work until 4pm from Monday to Thursday and until 2.15pm on a Friday. This enables the team to reset both body and mind and fully embrace Malta’s summertime, following the cosier winter months.

Senior Lawyer Dr Danica Micallef, who joined BDO Malta’s legal team in 2019, shares that she has already felt the impact of the new policies on her working life. “I’m very happy with the new policies,” she says. “They bring a lot of flexibility and make life so much easier in terms of my work-life balance. I love working in the office as part of the exciting team dynamic and culture – but having the option to work from home or to arrive and leave earlier in the day allows me to fit in other commitments, such as appointments in the afternoon and family life.”

The new policies are the latest additions to BDO Malta’s already-market-leading list of benefits for employees, who range from students to experienced professionals. Team members enjoy a competitive salary package, performance-based salary increases and bonuses, a health insurance plan, underground parking facilities, study leave, as well as regular social and CSR activities. Career development is also a high priority at BDO, with educational support offered to team members based on their individual goals for personal and professional growth.
